Abuja Hosts a Major Mining Conference
West Africa Mining Investment Conference (WAMIC)

It was a beehive of activities in Abuja between December 11 and 14, 2007 when Rimsom Associates collaborated with Promethean Advisers and Good Governance Group to organize a major mining investment conference titled 'West Africa Mining Investment Conference (WAMIC) - Matching Mineral Investment Opportunities to capital Sources.' The all important conference that did not come at a better time was hosted at the prestigious Ladi Kwali Conference Center of the Abuja Sheraton and Towers.
WAMIC which will be an annual event was officially opened by the Hon. Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development; Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Gusau, which witnessed a convergence of major stakeholders in the mining industry coming together to deliberate on ways to develop the sector through heavy investment.
The conference was well attended by major players in the industry. The list of world class speakers and participants from public and private institutions include: Nyonga Fofang, CEO Bambili Group Limited, South Africa, Paolo Gomes, CEO Constellor Group, USA and former Executive Director World Bank, Johan L. Botha, Country Manager Ghana Gold Fields and Michael Linklater, Exploration Manager Designate, African Greenfields Uramin Inc. Others are: a delegation from the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency led by their Director General, Dr. Siyan Malomo, the Ministry of Mines and Steel, First Bank PLC and the Bank of Industry, the Major Partners and other mining companies across the continent.
