NIGERIAN STOCK EXCHANGEThe Nigerian Stock Exchange Receives The United States Ambassador To NigeriaThe Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE) on March 4, 2008 played host to the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Ms. Robin Renee Sanders who came on a courtesy visit. Speaking at the event, the Director General of NSE Dr. (Mrs.) Ndi Okereke- Onyiuke welcomed their 'August' visitor to the Stock Exchange. She enumerated recent achievements of the NSE in the areas of investments and transparency. Ambassador Sanders in her response stated that the NSE has caught the U.S. government's attention because of the role the market is playing in the development of the country's economy and its commitment and efficiency in operation. She reiterated that democracy, business, investment and economy work together to uplift the living standard of the citizens of any country. Ms. Sanders stated that being a pro business Ambassador, she is ready to work with the NSE to achieve mutual benefit for the two countries. Ambassador Sanders also said that US investors are looking at Nigeria as an emerging market. The highlight of the visit was the official closing of the day's trade by the Ambassador Sanders who rang the bell at 12.30pm. Present to receive the Ambassador were the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the stock Exchange, Dr. (Mrs.) Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke, OON, the Assistant Director General, Mr. Lance Musa Elakama, and other top Executive Management Officers of the Stock Exchange.
