Nneka Obiamalu
Lead Consultant - National Assembly

Mrs. Nneka Obiamalu functions as our Lead Consultant to the National Assembly in Nigeria. Her experience spans over ten years working in the financial industry in the early 1990s before providing consulting services in the public sector. Prior to joining Rimsom, Mrs. Obiamalu was Principal Associate in Credit Alliance Financial Services, the Consulting firm to the Federal House of Representatives in the development of the Legislative Budget & Research Office. In addition to participating in the development of the initial concept before providing research services to the House Technical Committee in determining policy options for building legislative budget research capacity, she performed need assessments, assisted in the development of capacity building programs for Legislators and Legislative Staff and assisted in the organization of a number of workshops and seminars including:

  • a committee workshop on 'Making the Budget Work' to examine legislative options for improving fiscal performance, (September 2002);
  • an IMF/World Bank funded international Seminar on Macroeconomic Management & Stability, (April 2002);
  • a training program on US Congressional Procedures at the prestigious Brookings Institution in Washington D.C, with study visits to congressional support institutions, (July 2001);
  • a National Democratic Institute funded Seminar on the Improving Legislative-Executive Interaction in Federal Budget Process, (May 2000).

Her other specific achievements include carrying out the social and institutional review preparatory to, and subsequently, designing Ekiti State Government's World Bank Assisted Community-based Poverty Reduction Project (1999/2000).

Nneka Obiamalu holds a BSc (Honors) from the University of Jos and a Postgraduate diploma in Economics from the School of Oriental & African Studies, University of London.
